Divide & Rule

Controversially on the 23 June 2016 the UK voted to leave the European Union (EU). The vote was won by a very narrow margin and split the country by almost 50/50. Today, sadly the consequences of that vote are fully enshrined in law and the UK is now no longer part of the EU

  1. What a sad photo and clever of you to think of taking it! I still have my badge and flyers from the original campaign to join and deeply regret us leaving, especially on such a campaign of half truths and made up stories!

    1. Thank you. I stood at the booth for ages and had to take about 6 photographs checking each one after taking with my left hand, before I captured one that worked. The pencil was attached to the left side of the booth so I ran the string through my teeth to keep it out of the way! I wanted to get the pencil poised right in between the boxes which sounds easy but with trying to remain discreet in the polling station it wasn’t as easy as it might have been. I’m really not sure what the invigilators thought I was doing! 🙂
I thought this one and the other two Brexit themed posts on New Years Day summed up feeling for a lot of people. A sad day indeed.
I’m impressed that you have all the stuff from 40 years ago – Well done!
Best wishes and have a happy healthy 2021 🙂
