This work by sculptor Alex Chinneck was installed for one week in Tinsley on Sheffield Road as a taster for his proposals of more permanent work alongside the Sheffield Canal.  Local residents and school children were invited to see the sculpture and to meet the artist.

    1. Thank you. I think I prefer my black and white shots. The monochrome creates a different sense of drama.
While I was at Tinsley there was a flow of people coming and going who had all seen it on social media.
I went to his presentation at the Town Hall on Thursday where he talked about his plans for the Tinsley sculpture project. It is to be called Upwards and Onwards. It’s a very ambitious project with technical engineering problems yet to be overcome. He’s working with local companies and the University. He is doing some (free) walks next weekend but places need to be booked via Evenbright – Just put his name in their search bar and you’ll find the details if you are interested.
      Cheers
      Mr C 🙂

      1. Brilliant! I met Alex while taking these photos and had a chat with him. I think it will be an interesting walk. It’s handy that it’s near work for you. Also if the project takes off then you’ll be close to see it reveal itself as it is built. Did you get to see the peeling road sculpture while it was there?

      2. No. As these things go I am at work a lot of the time. So hopefully the weather will be good early evening to get good light. Have a little idea about the project the new towers of Tinsley along the canal. Nice to see the vision from the man himself

      3. Yes indeed. I think it is good he is making the effort to involve the community and make himself available to the people of Sheffield. Hope you enjoy the walk 🙂
