Yes, the spider is great and I wondered if I should have featured it? I decided that the huge sculpted cow above the shop floor would perhaps represent the side of Gripple that supports the arts and is possibly something that few people have seen. Gripple gave us a warm welcome and allowed photographs of any areas of the workplace and encouraged us to chat to workers. Their working practices appear to be underpinned by investment in the workforce and innovation. The CEO has the smallest desk in an open plan office! Check out their website for more information. Thanks for your comment, Best wishes, Mr Cafe 🙂
I must have a look, sounds fab to support the arts, did you just pop in or pre-arrange? I do know someone who works their as it happens. he was sent to the americas as part of his training, this will about 5 years ago, haven’t seen him for that long either. i like the first image of the wires with their trade mark loops 🙂
It was a really enjoyable afternoon. It was part of Sheffield Design Week. The talk and tour was a ticketed event but the tickets were free. All the photographs were hand held under rather tricky electric lighting! I tried various wb settings but couldn’t hit upon one that worked well. I’m reasonably pleased with this set of images but I would love to go back when I had more time and take my tripod. It is a fascinating place. They have a couple of other locations in Sheffield and it would be good to visit those as well! They were all very welcoming. Perhaps you could get in touch with your friend or maybe they have an open day? I’d be interested to see your pics if you manage to make it down there… Best wishes, Mr Cafe 🙂
These are wonderful abstracts and a great topic.
I pass the building on my way to work and their spider is just superb.
