I watched this building go from being a fairly well used church to being abandoned and left to fall into decay, with the slates and lead robbed off the roof. The council want horse-whipping for not stepping in to secure what could have easily been converted into apartments or similar (or even god help us Tesco, although this would spell the end for the small shops round the corner). Most of the top quality brick, wood and stone work was just bulldozed, though I think a salvage firm took some of the carved window surrounds and tracery.
